Teaching portfolio - Jorge Hernan Galvis

 Introduction 

The teaching activity is measured in the quality of teaching and not only in the credentials that a teacher has, since the main objective of teaching is precisely that students can learn, and for this purpose, there are hundreds of activities and didactic modes, In this order of ideas, a good teacher is the one who knows how to create a pleasant teaching and learning environment. This teaching portfolio is a letter of presentation of my experience as a teacher, and of the wonderful opportunity to teach.


Who am I as a teacher?

I am a teacher who looks at each person with love, and who feels privileged to have the pleasure of teaching, and to meet wonderful people in all that experience, in addition, I am a teacher who teaches with quality, and that quality can be measured. in the understanding of teaching and not only in the imparting of knowledge, so that students have a true academic nutrition that helps them develop, while growing as people and as students in training.


My teaching philosophy

The success of the teaching activity consists of the understanding of what is being taught, and not only in imparting knowledge.


My beliefs about my teaching

I believe that keeping students motivated is everything in the classroom

I believe that allowing students to interact in class is gaining a lot of ground.

I believe that designing an eye-catching class is to win the attention of the group.


What I learned about teaching speaking skills.

I learned that learning English is easier when speaking, and this can cause nerves in students, but the idea is to create a favorable environment that allows the active participation of students.


What I learned about teaching in online settings.

My two teaching experiences were online and for me they were beautiful experiences, because I was able to meet wonderful people from all over the national territory, with these experiences I learned that when it comes to teaching English, the resources on the internet are unlimited and very creative, such as teacher support, and I would like to use these tools in the classroom.

Conclusion

 

My teaching experience was a roller coaster of emotions, well, I started with a lot of nerves, and just being there every day, I am filled with confidence to impart the knowledge, in my teaching experience, I tried to be very kind and to maintain a tender character with I think that this was key to creating an environment conducive to teaching and learning, with which the students had confidence in the virtual classroom.

 

My advice to the teachers in training, is that they can be very kind to the students so that an ice wall does not form, and the students can maintain interest in the classes.
